Golf House Club, Elie

A brighter day dawned for a trip to Elie, so close to Braid’s birthplace, though not one his own course designs. Master organiser was Tommy Brown, who raised 12 locals for what was their first social match of the year. Once again, the club went the extra mile to enable the match to go ahead. But on this occasion the…

Leading up to this match v The clubs at Gleneagles, arrangements for golf known to be OK. Mist and low cloud conspired to blot out the spectacular views.…

Dunblane New GC

A small, but very select, group of JBGS members enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Dunblane New GC on 18th September. The quality of the golf was occasionally rather surprising, with Len’s putter being smokin’ hot (as usual!). Thank you to John Rankin for organising this.

Edzell GC

Match vs Edzell GC Seniors, 25th July 2019 This match came into being through the connections of John Souter and the hard work of Tommy Brown, who made the contacts and developed the plan. So, a 12-a-side fixture was established, with the very friendly co-operation of the Seniors Section at Edzell GC. Your intrepid Captain made the journey from the…

The Nevill GC

Supported again by Roy, and this time Malcolm with Phil Baker making up a 4 Ball Better Ball. Teams were Phil and Roy against Malcolm and Alison. Golf was mixed but with a stunning putt on the last the match ended all square – an honourable half being the right result after 18 holes of fun. No photos exist of…

Crowborough Beacon GC

We managed to muster a 4 Ball Better Ball for the first event of the season. Mike Harris and Roy Pickavance were joined by Peter and Alison. Mike was in stunning form – obviously practising for later in the year and he and Roy soundly beat the Stanbrooks.

Blairgowrie GC

And the year finished as it started – the weather wasn’t good at Blairgowrie, but 7 hardy souls went out and braved it. There were 2 teams: 1 Peter Stanbrook, Robin Duncan and David Sloan and 2 Sandy Farquharson, George Ross and Bill Stephens. Alison played 9 holes with each team – always a winner that way, with team 2…
